Unwanted tree stumps can cause damage to patios and walls, hamper decking or simply be an eyesore in your lawn. Stump grinding removes the stump below the surrounding surface, ensuring there is no re-growth and that a level area is left for re-planting, turfing or landscaping.

Our tight-access machines give us the ability to work on a wide range of stumps. We can access stumps under paving and decking, close to boundary walls or growing through concrete and rock. Often tree stumps grow around metal posts and fencing. Our precise stump grinders can work up against metalwork and obstacles without damaging machinery or property.

A comprehensive site assessment is performed before each stump removal job. We can check for nearby utilities and cables using online mapping and portable cable detection tools. Operators are Lantra qualified for chainsaw cross-cutting and NPTC assessed for stump grinders and associated equipment.

As well as removal, Mid Wales Mechanical can cut taller stumps down to ground level, cross-cut fallen branches, prune restrictive growth and remove underground roots. Operators are equipped with a range of chainsaws, felling axes and carbide-tipped disc cutters for dealing with even the most stubborn roots.

At only 50cm wide, our Alpine Magnum stump grinders can fit through narrow accessways, tight side-gates and between obstacles. Portable by hand, these machines can be lifted over fences, carried up steep slopes and even transported through terraced houses into back gardens. Getting to stumps that others can't is our specialty!

Unlike traditional tracked and wheeled machines, our stump grinders can be operated on steep slopes and riverbanks without the risk of rolling over or getting stuck. The low-profile cutting head can work up against walls and fences or be angled to reach under decking or concrete.

The sharp carbine-tipped teeth spin much faster than most traditional grinders, making short work of hard or soft-wood tree stumps. The low-profile cutting head can be placed precisely by trained operators, making our machines ideal for working near obstacles, concrete and even pipes and cables.

Our machines allow for complete stump removal or reduction to below the surrounding ground level. We can grind stumps up to 50cm below ground and chase the associated roots to leave a clean area ready for re-planting, landscaping or turfing.

Once finished, our operators will perform a final assessment and cleanup of the work area. The fine chippings can be refilled and left as mulch or removed from site completely. As a National Resources Wales registered waste carrier we can remove unwanted chippings, timber and roots from your property.
